Deforestation

TITLE
Wood You?
FACTS
About 36 football fields worth of trees are lost every minute. Trees are removed from forests for many reasons: fuel, to make land available for other uses (ex. housing, ranching, to create commercial items (ex. paper), to create ingredients for consumer items (ex. palm oil).
Deforestation contributes to climate change.  Trees store carbon dioxide. When they are cut, they are can no longer act as storage for greenhouse gasses, but also release CO2 into the atmosphere.

'Wood you?'/'Drowning waters' is a collaboration touching on the effects of global warming and deforestation. Our eco system is in danger. Imagine two major organs in your body suddenly stopped working and the domino effect that takes place after.

An estimated 18 million acres (7.3 million hectares) of forest, which is roughly the size of the country of Panama, are lost each year, according to the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization. Our forest's diminishing effects oxygen levels, increases pollution and eliminates homes for hundreds of wildlife.  We are drowning and suffocating at the same time.
